The shaykh, the Imām, the learned scholar, Shaykh al-Islām, jurisconsult of humankind, the unrivalled one of his age and the peerless one of his time, champion of the Sunnah and suppressor of innovation, Taqī al-Dīn Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad, son of the shaykh, the Imām, the erudite Shihāb al-Dīn ʿAbd al-Ḥalīm, son of the shaykh, the Imām, the erudite, Shaykh al-Islām Majd al-Dīn Abū al-Barakāt ʿAbd al-Salām Ibn Taymiyyah al-Ḥarrānī—may Allah sanctify his soul and be pleased with him—said:
