such as al-Hārith al-Muḥāsibī, Abū al-ʿAbbās al-Qalānīsī, and those of their ilk—are better than the Ashʿarīs in both regards. The nearer a person is to the Salaf (the early generations) and the leading imams, the higher and more excellent his statement will be.

As for the Karrāmiyyah, their position on faith is a reprehensible innovation for which they have no precedent.
