Al-TadmuriyyaIbn Taimiya

“And [beware of] the Day when Allah will say, ‘Jesus son of Mary, did you say to the people, “Take me and my mother as two gods instead of Allah”?’ He will answer, ‘Glory be to You! It is not for me to say what I have no right to say. If I had said it, You would surely know it. You know what is within my soul, whereas I do not know what is within Yours. Indeed, You alone are the Knower of the unseen. • I only told them what You commanded me: “Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord.”’”

He, the Exalted, also says: “It is not for any human being to whom Allah has given the Scripture, judgment, and prophethood to then say to the people, ‘Be servants of me rather than of Allah.’ Rather, he would say, ‘Be devoted to your Lord because you have been teaching the Scripture and because you have been studying it.’ • Nor would he command you to take the angels and the prophets as lords. Would he order you to disbelief after you have submitted yourselves [to Allah]?”

Thus He has made it plain that taking angels and prophets as lords is disbelief.

[The general acknowledgment of the idolaters of tawḥīd al-rubūbiyyah (Allah’s exclusive Lordship)]

It is well-known that none of creation has ever claimed that the prophets, rabbis, monks, or the Messiah son of Mary shared with Allah in creating the heavens and the earth. Nor has anyone ever asserted that the universe has two makers equal in attributes and actions, or affirmed a deity who matches Allah in all His attributes. On the contrary, most of those who associate partners with Allah concede that no partner resembles Him at all; indeed, they admit that any partner is owned by Him, whether that partner be an angel or a prophet.
