know.” And Allah, exalted be He, also says: “Among people are those who take rivals to Allah, loving them as they should love Allah; but those who believe are firmer in their love for Allah.” And He says: “They have set up the jinn as partners with Allah, although He created them, and in their ignorance they have invented for Him sons and daughters. Glory be to Him; exalted is He above what they ascribe! He is the Originator of the heavens and the earth—how could He have a child when He has no consort? He created everything, and He has full knowledge of all things.”

He, the Exalted, also says: “Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion to His servant so that he might be a warner to all peoples—He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, who has taken no child and who has no partner in sovereignty.” And He says: “Ask them: does your Lord have daughters while you have sons? Or did We create the angels female while they were witnesses? It is only from their fabrication that they say, ‘Allah has begotten,’ and they are indeed liars. Has He chosen daughters instead of sons? What is the matter with you—how do you judge? Will you not then be mindful? Or do you possess a clear authority? Then bring your scripture, if you are truthful. They have even asserted a kinship between Him and the jinn, yet the jinn know well that they will surely be arraigned. Glorified is Allah above what they attribute—except His devoted servants.” This continues until His words: “Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they ascribe; and peace be upon the messengers; and praise be to Allah, Lord of all worlds.” Thus He declared Himself transcendent above what the lying idolaters attribute to Him, sent peace upon the messengers because their speech is free of falsehood and polytheism, and praised Himself, for He is—
