Chapter Two: Belief in what Allah has attributed to Himself in His Book

Included in this comprehensive creed is the following:

[Surat al-Ikhlāṣ equals one-third of the Qur’an]
16- That which He has attributed to Himself in Surat al-Ikhlāṣ, a chapter that equals one-third of the Qur’an.
17- There He says: “Say, ‘He is Allah, One; Allah, the Eternal Refuge; He neither begets nor is born; nor is there to Him any equivalent.’” (Ikhlāṣ 112:1-4).

[Āyat al-Kursī—the greatest verse in Allah’s Book]
18- And that which He has attributed to Himself in the greatest verse of His Book.
19- There He says: “Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not weary Him—meaning: it neither distresses nor burdens Him—and He is the Most High, the Supreme.” (Baqarah 2:255).
