Section One:
Adhering to the legacy of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and treading the path of the earliest predecessors
Thereafter, among the hallmarks of the methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jamaʿah are:

Following the traces of the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—both inwardly and outwardly.

Following the path of the earliest forerunners, the Emigrants and the Helpers.

Heeding the Prophet’s directive—peace and blessings be upon him—when he said: “You must adhere to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided, upright caliphs after me. Hold fast to it and bite onto it with your molars. Beware of newly introduced matters, for every innovation is misguidance.”

Knowing that the truest speech is the speech of Allah, and that the finest guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
