Chapter Three
Affirming the karāmāt (miraculous gifts) granted to the friends of Allah

• Among the principles of Ahl al-Sunnah are:

287. Belief in the karāmāt of the awliyāʾ, the pious friends of Allah.

288. Acceptance of whatever Allah brings about at their hands—occurrences that break ordinary norms—in the form of:
     – diverse kinds of knowledge,
     – intuitive unveilings,
     – various manifestations of power,
     – effective influences,
     – as related about past nations in Surah al-Kahf and elsewhere,
     – and as transmitted from the earliest generations of this community—the Companions, the Followers, and the successive generations of the ummah.

289. Such karāmāt will continue to appear within the ummah until the Day of Resurrection.
