Section Five: What it means to believe in Allah: that He, exalted is He, is above His heavens, high over His Throne
Included in what we have already enumerated under faith in Allah is the following:
157 – To believe in what Allah has stated in His Book, what has been transmitted through recurrent reports from His Messenger ﷺ, and what the early generations of this community unanimously affirmed:
– that He, glorified be He, is above His heavens, upon His Throne, exalted above His creatures;
– yet He, glorified be He, is with them wherever they may be, knowing everything they do.
158 – He combined these two truths in His statement:
“He is the One who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then rose over the Throne. He knows what penetrates the earth and what comes forth from it, what descends from the sky and what ascends therein. And He is with you wherever you are, and Allah sees perfectly whatever you do.” ⦗57:4⦘
159 – The meaning of His words, “and He is with you,” is not that He is mixed with the creation, for the Arabic language does not necessitate such an interpretation.
