Section Three: Belief in the Attributes with which the Messenger ﷺ described his Lord
• Next comes the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ:
131- It explains the Quran, clarifies it, guides to it, and gives voice to its meanings.
132- Therefore, whatever the Messenger has attributed to his Lord in the sound hadiths that the people of knowledge have unanimously accepted must likewise be believed in.
Hadiths on the Divine Attributes:
1- Affirming that Allah descends to the lowest heaven:
133- As in his ﷺ statement: “Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven every night when the last third of the night remains, and He says: Who will call upon Me so that I may answer him? Who will ask of Me so that I may give him? Who will seek My forgiveness so that I may forgive him.” Agreed upon.
2- Affirming joy for Allah:
134- And his ﷺ saying: “Allah is more delighted with the repentance of His servant than one of you is with his mount …” — the hadith. Agreed upon.
