Qāʿidah fī al-Bāqiyāt al-Ṣāliḥāt - Ibn Taimiya - (17)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
With His help we seek assistance.
All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
May Allah bless our master Muhammad, his family, and all his companions, and may He grant them abundant and unceasing peace until the Day of Recompense.

Subḥān Allāh (Transcendent is Allah), al-ḥamdu lillāh (praise belongs to Allah), lā ilāha illā Allāh (there is no deity but Allah), Allāhu akbar (Allah is greater)

The finest words after the Quran

1- It is authentically reported in the Ṣaḥīḥ (1) that the Prophet ﷺ said: “The best words after the Quran are four—and they occur within the Quran: Subḥān Allāh, al-ḥamdu lillāh, lā ilāha illā Allāh, and Allāhu akbar.”

(1) Sahih Muslim, no. 2137/12, records the report from Samura b. Jundub with the wording: “The words most beloved to Allah are four…,” and so forth. The version cited by the author is found in Musnad Ahmad, 5/20. The author further declares the hadith to be mutawatir; see Al-Radd ala al-Mantiqiyyin, 35, where he writes: “The Prophet ﷺ indisputably taught his community to remember Allah with complete phrases,” before quoting the narration. Cf. also Majmuʿ al-Fatawa, 10/553.
