Qāʿidah fī Libās al-NabīIbn Taimiya

161 – As recorded in Sunan Abī Dāwūd (1), the Prophet ﷺ said:
“Some kinds of swagger Allah loves and some He detests. The swagger that Allah loves is a man’s proud bearing in battle and when giving charity; the swagger that He hates is the swagger shown in boastfulness and oppression.”

162 – On the Day of Uḥud, Abū Dujānah swaggered between the two battle-lines, and the Prophet ﷺ remarked, “That is a gait Allah despises—except in this situation.” (2)
