This copy comprises 12 folios, occupying folios 53r–64v of the compendium, with 15 lines to each page. It is written in an elegant, fully-vowelled naskh hand, contains very few mistakes, and ends with a note confirming that it was collated; the identity of the scribe is unknown.
As for my work on the critical edition:
• I adopted this copy as the base text.
• I vocalised every passage, smoothed the phrasing, numbered the paragraphs consecutively, and supplied marginal headings.
• I traced each Qur’anic verse, placing the citation beside it, and sourced the hadiths and reports, stating their grades of acceptance or rejection.
• I added several important annotations—most of them drawn from Shaykh al-Islām’s other writings—and cited additional references from the books of fiqh.
• I prepared indices of Qur’anic verses, hadiths, reports, and subjects.
I ask Allah, exalted is He, to render this work solely for His sake and to grant us guidance, piety, chastity, and sufficiency. He is indeed the All-Hearing, the One who responds.
