• His pupil, the eminent scholar Ibn ʿAbd al-Hādī—may Allah have mercy on him—referred to this very principle under the title: “A rule that includes mention of the Prophet’s clothing, weapons, and mounts; it is the Qarmānīyah (1)” (2).
I have combined that designation with the title found on the manuscript itself.
• Anyone who examines the treatise will recognize the style and spirit of Shaykh al-Islām, and the abridgement prepared by his student Ibn al-Qayyim confirms the same. When discussing the mintaqah (waist belt) he openly cites its wording, saying: “Shaykh al-Islām said: We have no report that the Prophet ﷺ ever fastened a mintaqah around his waist” (3).
Description of the manuscript copy:
I have relied on a single copy contained in a majmūʿ (compendium) that gathers several works. It is kept in the Shahid Ali Library attached to the Sulaymāniyyah collection in Turkey, under catalogue number 2742.
