65 – As for the farroj:
In the two Ṣaḥīḥs (1) it is related from ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir that he said: “A silk farroj was presented to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He put it on and performed the prayer in it. Then he returned and pulled it off abruptly, as though he disliked it, and said, ‘This is not appropriate for the God-fearing.’ He removed it only because it was made of silk.”
Al-Bukhārī said, “The farroj is the qabāʾ” (2), and it is also said to be the garment that is slit at the back.
66 – As for the sarāwīl (trousers) and the like:
In the two Ṣaḥīḥs (3) Ibn ʿUmar reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, “What may a person in iḥrām wear of clothing?” He replied, “He must not wear a shirt, a turban, a burnous, sarāwīl (trousers), or leather socks.”
