—Allah will never forgive them.” (a) (Qur’an 9:80).

Thereafter the verse was revealed: “And never pray over any of them who dies, nor stand at his grave” (Qur’an 9:84), so he stopped performing the funeral prayer for them.

The Narrow-Sleeved Jubbah

63 – As for the jubbah with tight sleeves:

64 – The two Ṣaḥīḥs (2) relate from al-Mughīrah ibn Shuʿbah: “I was with the Prophet ﷺ one night on a journey. He asked, ‘Do you have any water?’ I replied, ‘Yes.’ He dismounted his mount and walked on until he disappeared from me in the darkness of the night. Then he returned, and I poured the water-skin over him. He washed his face and hands while wearing a woollen jubbah and could not get his forearms out of its sleeves.

“In another wording (3): it was a Syrian jubbah. He tried to pull his hands through its sleeves, but they were too tight, so he brought his hands out from beneath the garment, washed his forearms, then wiped over his head. I reached to remove his leather socks, but he said, ‘Leave them, for I put them on when I was in a state of purity,’ and he wiped over them.”
