The reports transmitted on this subject
20 – In al-Bukhārī’s Ṣaḥīḥ (1) it is narrated from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith—the Prophet’s ﷺ brother-in-law, the brother of Juwayriyyah bint al-Ḥārith—who said:
“When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, he left neither a dinar nor a dirham, neither a male slave nor a female slave. He left nothing at all except his white mule, his weapons, and a tract of land that he had dedicated as charity.”
21 – Muslim relates in his Ṣaḥīḥ (2) from ʿĀʾishah who said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ left neither a dinar nor a dirham, neither a sheep nor a camel, and he made no bequest of anything whatsoever.”
22 – Ibn ʿAbbās reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died while his coat of mail was pledged to a Jew for thirty [sāʿ of barley]. Another narration states: “for twenty sāʿ of barley, which he had obtained for his family.” The compilers of the Sunan transmitted this report, and al-Tirmidhī remarked, “A hasan ṣaḥīḥ hadith.” (3)
