Section Two: A “Supplement” on the Shaykh’s Writings
[A “Supplement” on the Shaykh’s Writings]
This is an addendum connected to the present (second) chapter concerning a number of titles that someone who compiled the Shaykh’s works included—at least in part—yet which I myself have not listed, for reasons I shall mention under each book.
I record them here for two purposes:
- So that no one may think I have forgotten these works or am unaware of them.
- So that I do not deprive the reader of books that have been counted among the Shaykh’s corpus.
Thus this inventory, by Allah’s permission, will constitute an exhaustive register of everything that has ever been claimed to be among the Shaykh’s writings. Allah is the granter of success.
The books are:
(1) “Monotheism First, O Callers to Islam,” [answer to a question] — (printed).
It began as a recorded cassette containing a response to a single question; it was later transcribed and published. I do not know whether it was shown to the Shaykh for review or not.
Because the book does not satisfy my criteria (1), I have therefore not included it.
(2) “Al-Ḥāwī fī Fatāwā al-Shaykh al-Albānī,” by Abū Humām al-Miṣrī — (printed).
I referred to it in Chapter Four, p. 151—see it there together with my comments.
(3) “The Ruling on One Who Abandons Prayer,” [authored] — (printed).
The Shaykh—may Allah have mercy on him—wrote out a list of his writings and critical editions in his own hand, and among them he enumerated “The Ruling on One Who Abandons Prayer,” assigning it an independent number (2).
Likewise, in the magazine Al-Aṣālah the book is cited under a separate entry (80).
“The Ruling on One Who Abandons Prayer” is nothing more than a study extracted verbatim from Silsilat al-Aḥādīth al-Ṣaḥīḥah, volume seven (3), hadith no. 3054.
Accordingly, “The Ruling on One Who Abandons Prayer” is not a new book by the Shaykh, and for that reason I have not incorporated it, even though I am aware that its compiler assigned it a number and treated it as an independent work.
The object here is simply to tally the Shaykh’s books.
