“(As for the edition of the debate published under the editorial supervision of al-Saqqaf … it has been tampered with and is incomplete.)
I say: In fact, it was printed long ago in Morocco in a different impression, and he apparently never saw it.
‘A Written Debate with a Group from the Qadiani Sect,’ [authored].
The shaykh referred to it in Silsilat al-Ahadith al-Sahihah (4/252), hadith no. 1683.
It is now lost.
‘Manāqib al-Shām wa-Ahlihi’ (by Shaykh al-Islam), [edited] (printed).
Issued as an appendix to the previously mentioned Takhrij Ahadith ‘Fada’il al-Sham wa-Dimashq.’
‘Selections from Hadith Manuscripts,’ [authored] (printed).
A catalogue of certain hadith manuscripts kept in the Zahiri Library in Damascus. The story of its composition is remarkable; see its introduction.
‘Selections from the Catalogue of the British Library,’ [authored].
‘The Status of the Sunnah in Islam and the Demonstration that the Qur’an Cannot Dispense with It,’ [authored] (printed). The work began as a lecture the shaykh delivered in Doha, Qatar.
‘Mawārid al-Suyuti in al-Jamiʿ al-Saghir,’ [authored].
I have read the shaykh’s introduction to Sahih al-Jamiʿ many times, yet I have found nothing about this book, not even a hint. It appears that the shaykh—may Allah have mercy on him—wrote it after completing Sahih al-Jamiʿ and its weak-hadith counterpart; Allah knows best.
The title itself suggests that the author listed the works on which al-Suyuti relied when citing hadiths in his al-Jamiʿ al-Saghir, and they are numerous. The sources he denotes by symbols total twenty-seven. For the remainder he either gives the full title or suffices with the author’s name (1), such as:
‘Al-Ahadith al-Mukhtarah,’ which he notes as (al-Diyaʾ);
‘Tarikh Dimashq al-Kabir,’ which he writes as (Ibn ʿAsakir in: “his Tarikh”), and sometimes simply (Ibn ʿAsakir);
‘Jamiʿ al-Bayan ʿan Taʾwil al-Qurʾan,’ which he renders as (Ibn Jarir in: “his Tafsir”);
‘Az-Zuhd,’ which he gives as (Hanad, ‘Az-Zuhd’).
