it is a reply to a treatise by our learned shaykh Ḥamūd b. ʿAbd Allah al-Tuwayjri, may Allah have mercy on him, entitled “Observations on al-Albani’s Treatise on Prayer.” The work is no longer extant.
( … ) “A Refutation of Ibn Ḥazm concerning the ḥadith on musical instruments,” i.e., the previously mentioned book “The Prohibition of Musical Instruments.”
( … ) “A Refutation of Ibn Ḥazm for permitting instruments of diversion and music.” This too is the same work, “The Prohibition of Musical Instruments.”
Al-Shaybani cites it in Ḥayat al-Albani (1/306) under that very title and notes in the footnote that it is missing. The book, however, has been printed recently, and in his introduction the Shaykh makes no reference to its having been lost. It may be that the printed “The Prohibition of Musical Instruments”—which also bears the subtitle “A Refutation Based on the Two Revelations”—is different from “A Refutation of Ibn Ḥazm,” in which case the Shaykh produced two separate works on the same subject. Allah knows best.
“A Refutation of al-Sakhkhāf for the scrawl he produced against ‘Dispelling the Allegations of Anthropomorphism’” [authored].
The manuscript reads “al-Sakhkhāf,” but the person intended is the deviant consumed by his innovation: Ḥasan b. ʿAli al-Saqāf—with a qāf, not a khā. I do not know whether “al-Sakhkhāf” is simply a misprint, or whether the author deliberately labeled him that way.
[“A Refutation of al-Suyuti regarding his claim that his book is free from the ḥadith of liars and fabricators”] [authored].
This is a scholarly exchange spanning (four) pages in which Shaykh al-Albani, may Allah have mercy on him, challenges Imam al-Suyuti’s assertion that his al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr contains no report transmitted solely by a forger or a liar. The piece is now considered lost.
Shaykh Zuhayr al-Shāwish, may Allah preserve him, says:
(While preparing the first edition (1), I asked our shaykh al-Albani about something he had written on this matter—namely that al-Suyuti included in al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr ḥadith found only in the collections of forgers or liars, contrary to what he had claimed in the introduction to al-Jāmiʿ al-Ṣaghīr min Ḥadith al-Bashīr al-Nadhīr. He remembered having written on the topic but did not know where the piece was …
[Shaykh Zuhayr then said:]
