Chapter Two: The “Thabat” – A Register of the Shaykh’s Works
This chapter consists of an introduction and four sections.
Introduction: The Method I Followed in Compiling the “Thabat”
While tracing the Shaykh’s (may Allah have mercy on him) writings, I used to jot down certain observations about each book—such as the motive behind its composition, any related anecdote when available, the date of publication, the number of editions, the publisher, the size of the volume, and some general remarks. I then realized that doing so would make the present work excessively long and detract from its aim.
Accordingly, I adopted a concise method so that the book would not become unwieldy, especially since the Shaykh’s works are already within the reach of students of knowledge, who can draw benefit from them directly.
A detailed discussion of every title is therefore inappropriate here; it properly belongs in an extensive study of the Shaykh to be undertaken, Allah willing, by some researcher.
While reading this second chapter, where the Shaykh’s books are listed, one should note the following:
(1) I have deliberately omitted information about individual editions, places of printing, and dates of publication. The purpose here is simply to gather the Shaykh’s authored works and annotated editions in one place; those that have been printed are already accessible to students.
Most of the Shaykh’s books were printed in earlier years by al-Maktab al-Islami in Beirut, whose proprietor, the esteemed Shaykh Zuhayr al-Shawish—may Allah preserve him—played a major role in publishing the works of the early scholars and in disseminating the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wa-l-Jamaʿah, as well as in printing and distributing Shaykh al-Albani’s writings.
More recently, they have been issued by Maktabat al-Maʿarif in Riyadh, owned by the honorable Shaykh Saʿd ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman al-Rashid—may Allah preserve him.
A small remainder has appeared with other publishers, among them:
• Dar al-Arqam
• al-Dar al-Salafiyyah (both in Kuwait)
• Dar al-Siddiq in Jubayl.
