Al-Muqaddimāt al-MumahhidātIbn Rush al-Jadd

Book of Mounts and Beasts of Burden

Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:

“And livestock—He created them for you; in them are warmth and other benefits, and from them you eat.” [al-Nahl: 5]

“And you find beauty in them when you bring them home and when you lead them out to pasture.” [al-Nahl: 6]

“And they carry your burdens to a land you could not otherwise reach except with great hardship. Indeed, your Lord is Most Kind, Most Merciful.” [al-Nahl: 7]

The Most High also says:

“And He created horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and as adornment. And He creates what you do not know.” [al-Nahl: 8]

He also says:

“And He is the One who created all pairs and made for you ships and livestock on which you ride, [al-Zukhruf: 12] so that you may settle upon their backs, then remember your Lord’s blessing when you have settled upon them and say, ‘Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, for we could never have mastered it ourselves. [al-Zukhruf: 13] And indeed, to our Lord we shall surely return.’” [al-Zukhruf: 14]

The Most High also says:

“He is the One who made livestock for you, so that you may ride some of them, and from some of them you eat.” [Ghāfir: 79]

“And you have other benefits in them, and through them you may fulfil a need within your hearts. Upon them and upon ships you are carried.” [Ghāfir: 80]

The Most High also says:

“And proclaim the pilgrimage to the people: they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel, coming from every distant mountain pass.” [al-Hajj: 27]

He also says:

كتاب الرواحل والدواب قال الله ﷿: ﴿وَالأَنْعَامَ خَلَقَهَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا دِفْءٌ وَمَنَافِعُ وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ﴾ [النحل: ٥] ﴿وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا جَمَالٌ حِينَ تُرِيحُونَ وَحِينَ تَسْرَحُونَ﴾ [النحل: ٦] ﴿وَتَحْمِلُ أَثْقَالَكُمْ إِلَى بَلَدٍ لَمْ تَكُونُوا بَالِغِيهِ إِلا بِشِقِّ الأَنْفُسِ إِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَحِيمٌ﴾ [النحل: ٧]، وقال تعالى: ﴿وَالْخَيْلَ وَالْبِغَالَ وَالْحَمِيرَ لِتَرْكَبُوهَا وَزِينَةً وَيَخْلُقُ مَا لا تَعْلَمُونَ﴾ [النحل: ٨]، وقال: ﴿وَالَّذِي خَلَقَ الأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الْفُلْكِ وَالأَنْعَامِ مَا تَرْكَبُونَ﴾ [الزخرف: ١٢] ﴿لِتَسْتَوُوا عَلَى ظُهُورِهِ ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا اسْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُولُوا سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ﴾ [الزخرف: ١٣] ﴿وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ﴾ [الزخرف: ١٤]، وقال تعالى: ﴿الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الأَنْعَامَ لِتَرْكَبُوا مِنْهَا وَمِنْهَا تَأْكُلُونَ﴾ [غافر: ٧٩] ﴿وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَافِعُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوا عَلَيْهَا حَاجَةً فِي صُدُورِكُمْ وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى الْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَ﴾ [غافر: ٨٠]، وقال تعالى: ﴿وَأَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ بِالْحَجِّ يَأْتُوكَ رِجَالا وَعَلَى كُلِّ ضَامِرٍ يَأْتِينَ مِنْ كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِيقٍ﴾ [الحج: ٢٧]، وقال:
