As for a sale based on trust and reliance, it is when a man says, “Buy my goods from me as you buy from others, for I do not know their value,” and the buyer purchases them at the price he offers. Ibn Habīb said that such reliance applies only to selling, when one man says to another, “Sell to me as you sell to others,” and not to buying. There is, however, no difference between buying and selling in this regard. Allah knows best.

Buying and selling in this manner is permissible, although scholars prefer negotiated sales and regard them as better. By consensus, redress for price disadvantage is required when buying or selling is based on reliance and trust, because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
“Dealing unfairly in price with someone who relies on you is an injustice.”
Success comes through Allah, glorified and exalted.
