On Granting the Wife a Choice and Delegating Divorce to Her
Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
โO Prophet, say to your wives, โIf you desire the life of this world and its adornment, then come: I will provide for you and release you graciously.โโ [al-Ahzฤb: 28]
โBut if you desire Allah and His Messenger and the Hereafter, then Allah has prepared a tremendous reward for those of you who do good.โ [al-Ahzฤb: 29]

She asked him, โHave you approached any of your other wives before me?โ He replied, โNo.โ She said, โWhat is there in this for me to consult my parents about? I desire Allah and His Messenger and the Hereafter, and I ask you not to tell them of my choice.โ The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, replied, โI was not sent to make things difficult, but as a teacher and a bearer of glad tidings. If any of them asks me, I will certainly tell her.โ Joy could be seen on the face of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, at the choice made by
