“Marry, for through you I will outnumber the other nations on the Day of Resurrection.” He, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, also said: “Whoever loves my natural way should follow my Sunnah.” And he said: “Whoever marries has completed half of his religion, so let him fear Allah regarding the remaining half.”
The meaning of this—and Allah knows best—is that marriage keeps a person chaste and protects him from unlawful intercourse. Chastity is one of the two qualities for which Allah’s Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, promised Paradise, saying: “Whoever Allah protects from the evil of two things—what lies between his jaws and what lies between his legs—will have Paradise.”
He, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Of all that Allah has made lawful, nothing is dearer to me than marriage.” He also said: “You should marry, for marriage is more effective in lowering the gaze and guarding chastity. Whoever lacks the means should fast, for fasting restrains his desire.”
He, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “Pitiable, pitiable is a man who has no wife; and pitiable, pitiable is a woman who has no husband.” He was asked: “Even if he is wealthy, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied: “Even if he is wealthy.”
He, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, also said: “There is no monasticism in Islam. May Allah curse men and women who practise celibacy.” This means those who abstain from marriage as an established religious practice and observance.

According to the scholars, marriage is recommended for someone who has the means to marry, even if he has no need of it.
It is reported that ʿUmar ibn al-Khattāb, may Allah be pleased with him, used to say: “I marry a woman even though I have no need of her, and have intercourse with her even though I feel no desire for her.” He was asked: “What prompts you to do that?” He replied: “My desire that Allah bring forth from me someone through whom the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, will outnumber the other prophets in followers on the Day of Resurrection. For I heard him say: ‘Marry virgins, for they have sweeter mouths, better character, and more fruitful wombs. Through you I will outnumber the other nations on the Day of Resurrection.’” By “more fruitful wombs,” he means more capable of bearing children.
If, however, a man does not have relations with women, is impotent, or is infertile, and knows that he cannot father children, marriage is permissible for him. Success comes from Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He.
