is an intensive form, so purification must be confined to water, to the exclusion of all other liquids. The properties of wine, however, are not independently existing entities, for Allah created them such that they do not endure. They are therefore described as neither pure nor impure. The substance bearing them is deemed impure on their account by religious law. Once they disappear from it, it is no longer deemed impure or subject to the ruling of impurity; rather, it is accorded the ruling of the pure liquid into which it has transformed. And success comes from Allah, exalted is He.
