Section on Reciting the Quran to Melodies
It is not permissible to recite the Quran to stirring, songlike melodies that distract listeners from humble attentiveness, reflection on the Quran’s verses, reverent fear, and renewed repentance upon hearing its admonitions. The Quran must therefore be kept free of this and recited only in a manner that humbles the heart, strengthens faith, and awakens longing for what is with Allah. For Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says:
“The believers are only those whose hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned, whose faith increases when His verses are recited to them, and who put their trust in their Lord.” [al-Anfāl: 2]
And He says:
“Do they not reflect upon the Quran, or are there locks upon their hearts?” [Muhammad: 24]
And He says:
“When they hear what has been sent down to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears.” [al-Mā’idah: 83]
Melodies are disapproved of even in poetry; how much more so in the Quran!
As for deliberately listening to the Quran recited in a beautiful voice and with accomplished recitation, this is good. Umar ibn al-Khattāb said to Abū Mūsā, “Remind us of our Lord,” because of his beautiful voice in reciting the Quran and the excellence of his recitation. There has been considerable disagreement over the interpretation of the Prophet’s saying, peace and blessings be upon him: “He is not one of us who does not chant the Quran.” In my view, the best interpretation is: he is not one of us who does not delight in listening to the Quran being recited, owing to the tenderness of his heart and his longing for what is with his Lord, just as those who frequent singing women delight in listening to them. Allah knows best, and through Him comes success. There is no Lord besides Him and none worthy of worship but Him.

It is not permissible to travel with the Quran to enemy territory, because doing so shows disregard
