The Physical Description of the Prophet, May Allah Bless Him and Grant Him Peace
According to the transmitted reports, the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was of medium stature, neither conspicuously tall nor short. His height was thus moderate and pleasing, without any defect. He had a large head and abundant hair, wavy rather than straight, and curly without being tightly curled—as though a blossom, his hair dressed and combed. His beard was thick, and when he died there were a few white hairs just below his lower lip. His complexion was radiant, fair with a reddish tinge, and his face somewhat rounded. His eyes were large and deep black, with a reddish tinge to their whites, and his eyelashes were long. His hands and feet were thickset, and his joints—the ends of the bones—were large. He had a line of hair extending from his chest to his navel. When he walked, he leaned forward as though descending a slope; when he turned, he turned his whole body. Between his shoulders was the seal of prophethood, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

He was the most generous, the most forbearing, the most truthful in speech, the most faithful to his commitments, the gentlest in disposition, and the noblest companion. Whoever saw him unexpectedly was awed by him, and whoever came to know him through close association loved him. Those who described him would say, “I have never seen anyone like him, before or since.” May Allah bless him and grant him peace. Sufficient testimony to this is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic:
“Indeed, you are of outstanding character.” [Al-Qalam: 4]
It is related that “Ā’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, was asked about his character, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and replied, ‘His character and conduct were the Quran and adherence to it.’ She meant that he would pardon, overlook faults, do good, and turn away from the ignorant, in keeping with the words of
