The Book of Stoning

Section: Stern Warnings against Unlawful Sexual Intercourse

Allah, exalted be He, has forbidden His servants to engage in unlawful sexual intercourse and prohibited it in numerous verses of His Book. He, the Exalted, says:

“Do not go near unlawful sexual intercourse. It is truly a shameful deed and an evil way.” [al-Isrā’: 32]

He, the Exalted, also says:

“And those who do not invoke another god besides Allah, nor kill a soul whom Allah has forbidden to be killed except by right, nor engage in unlawful sexual intercourse. Whoever does these things will face punishment.” [al-Furqān: 68] “His punishment will be doubled on the Day of Resurrection, and he will remain in it forever, humiliated.” [al-Furqān: 69]

He, Almighty and Majestic, says:

“O Prophet, when believing women come to you, pledging that they will not associate anything with Allah, nor steal, nor engage in unlawful sexual intercourse, nor kill their children, nor bring forth any slander they fabricate between their hands and feet, nor disobey you in what is right, then accept their pledge and ask Allah to forgive them.” [al-Mumtahanah: 12]

He also says:

“The believers have certainly succeeded.” [al-Mu’minūn: 1] “Those who are humble in their prayers.” [al-Mu’minūn: 2] “Those who turn away from idle talk.” [al-Mu’minūn: 3] “Those who give zakah.” [al-Mu’minūn: 4] “Those who guard their chastity.” [al-Mu’minūn: 5] “Except with their wives or those whom their right hands possess, for then they are free from blame.” [al-Mu’minūn: 6] “But whoever seeks beyond that—it is they who are the transgressors.” [al-Mu’minūn: 7]

And He, the Almighty, said:
