The sixth is that she refrains from prayer for twice her customary number of menstrual days.
The seventh is that if this bleeding occurs in the first month of pregnancy, she refrains from prayer for her customary number of menstrual days; if it occurs in the second month, for twice that number; in the third month, for three times that number; and in the fourth month, for four times that number. This continues in the same manner, provided that she does not exceed the maximum duration of postnatal bleeding.
The eighth is Ashhab’s distinction concerning the precautionary extension between a woman who experiences doubt from the very beginning of her pregnancy and one who does not. There is also a ninth view, related by Ibn Lubāba: she refrains from prayer for her customary number of menstrual days from the beginning of pregnancy, however far the pregnancy advances. This is Asbagh’s report from Mālik in al-Thamāniya.

Menstrual and postnatal bleeding preclude fifteen things: ten are agreed upon, while five are disputed.
Of the ten agreed upon, the first is the removal of the state of ritual impurity arising from either. There is no disagreement that purification from either does not remove that state while the bleeding continues; it removes it only after the bleeding has ceased.
The second is the obligation of prayer. There is no disagreement that menstruating women and women experiencing postnatal bleeding are exempt from prayer.
The third is the validity of prayer performed by either woman. There is no disagreement that prayer is invalid during menstruation or postnatal bleeding.
The fourth is the validity of fasting, without removing its obligation. There is no disagreement that fasting is invalid during menstruation or postnatal bleeding.
The fifth is touching a copy of the Quran. There is an isolated dissenting opinion on this outside our school.
The sixth is vaginal intercourse. There is no disagreement within the Muslim community that this is prohibited during menstruation and postnatal bleeding.
The seventh is entering the mosque. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “I do not permit the mosque to a menstruating woman or anyone in a state of major ritual impurity.”
The eighth is circumambulation
