When Something Harmful Is Removed for Someone
Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that he once removed a speck of dirt from the beard of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, “May Allah remove from you, O Abu Ayyub, whatever you dislike.”
In another wording he said, “No harm shall befall you, O Abu Ayyub.”
ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with him) once plucked something from a man’s beard—or from his hair. The man said, “May Allah turn evil away from you.” ʿUmar replied, “Allah has turned evil away from us since we embraced Islam. Rather, when someone removes something from you, say: ‘May your hands only take up goodness.’”
Upon Seeing the First Fruit of the Season
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “Whenever people saw the first fruit of a season, they would bring it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When he received it, he would say, ‘O Allah, bless our fruit; bless our city; bless our saʿ measure; and bless our mudd measure.’ He would then give the fruit to the youngest child present.” Collected by Muslim.
