Another Narration
Mujāhid reported: A man’s leg went numb while he was sitting with Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both). Ibn ʿAbbās said to him, “Mention the person you love most.” The man replied, “Muhammad ﷺ,” and the numbness left him.
When the Riding Animal Trips
Abū al-Malīḥ narrated from a man who said: “I was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ when his mount stumbled. I exclaimed, ‘May Satan perish!’ He said, ‘Do not say, “May Satan perish,” for when you say that he swells until he is as large as a house and says, “It was by my power.” Instead, say, “In the name of Allah,” for when you say that, he shrinks until he becomes like a fly.’”
When Someone Presents a Gift and a Supplication Is Offered for Him
ʿĀʾishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “A sheep was presented as a gift to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, ‘Distribute it.’ Whenever the servant returned, I would ask, ‘What did they say?’ She would reply, ‘They said: May Allah bless you.’ So I would say, ‘And may Allah bless them.’ We return to them the same words they said, while our reward remains with us.”
It has also reached us that she did the same when giving charity.
