And the Exalted says, “So glorify your Lord with praise before the rising of the sun and before its setting” (Qāf 50:39); and He says, “Do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His Face” (Al-Anʿām 6:52); and, “So he was inspired: ‘Glorify (your Lord) morning and evening’” (Maryam 19:11).
He also says, “And during part of the night glorify Him, and after the stars have faded” (Aṭ-Ṭūr 52:49); and, “So exalt Allah when you reach the evening and when you rise at dawn” (Ar-Rūm 30:17); and, “Establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at some times of the night, for indeed good deeds erase misdeeds” (Hūd 11:114).
Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Whoever, upon entering the morning and upon entering the evening, says subḥān Allāh wa bi-ḥamdih (Glory be to Allah and with His praise) one hundred times, no one will come on the Day of Resurrection with anything better than what he has brought—except someone who said the same or added to it.” Muslim recorded this.
Muslim likewise narrated from ʿAbdullāh ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, when night fell, would say, “We have entered the evening and the dominion has entered the evening belonging to Allah. Praise be to Allah. There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs praise, and He is over all things competent. My Lord, I ask You for the good that is in this night and the good that follows it, and I seek refuge in You from the evil that is in this…”
