On the crowing of roosters, the braying of donkeys, and the barking of dogs
Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Prophet ﷺ said, “When you hear the braying of donkeys, seek refuge with Allah from Satan, for they have seen a devil. And when you hear the crowing of roosters, ask Allah for His bounty, for they have seen an angel.” Agreed upon.
Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When you hear the barking of dogs or the braying of donkeys at night, seek refuge with Allah from them, for they perceive what you do not perceive.” Recorded by Abū Dāwūd.
Concerning fire
It is related from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “When you see a fire, pronounce the takbīr (“Allāhu akbar”), for uttering the takbīr extinguishes it.”
