“O Allah, I ask You for her goodness and for the goodness You have placed within her, and I seek refuge in You from her evil and from the evil You have placed within her (allāhumma innī as’aluka khayrahā wa khayra mā jabalta-hā ʿalayh, wa aʿūdhu bika min sharrihā wa sharri mā jabalta-hā ʿalayh).”
If he purchases a camel, he should grasp the crest of its hump and say the same.
This was recorded by Abū Dāwūd and Ibn Mājah.
Ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “If, when one of you comes to his wife, he says, ‘bismillāh, allāhumma jannibnā ash-shayṭān, wa jannib ash-shayṭān mā razaqtanā’ (‘In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep Satan away from us and keep Satan away from whatever You grant us’), and then a child is decreed for them, Satan will never harm him.” Agreed upon.
Childbirth
It is mentioned that when Fāṭimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was close to delivering, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed Umm Salamah and Zaynab bint Jahsh to go to her and recite over her Āyat al-Kursī together with the words, “Indeed, your Lord is Allah who created the heavens and the earth…” to the end of the verse (al-Aʿrāf 54; Yūnus 3), and to seek protection for her with the two chapters of refuge (al-Muʿawwidhatān).
Abū Rāfiʿ said, “I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pronounce the adhān (call to prayer) in the ear of al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī when Fāṭimah (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth to him.” Al-Tirmidhī graded this ḥadīth ḥasan ṣaḥīḥ (sound and authentic).
