Abu Dawud narrated from ʿAli (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ﷺ said, “It suffices, when a group passes by, that one of them gives salām, and it suffices, for those who are seated, that one of them returns the greeting.”
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: “The Prophet ﷺ passed by some children who were playing and greeted them with salām.” This is an authentic hadith.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, ‘When one of you reaches a gathering, let him greet its people with salām. If he then wishes to sit, let him sit, and when he rises to leave, let him greet them again, for the first greeting is no more entitled than the last.’” Al-Tirmidhī graded this hadith ḥasan.
Concerning Sneezing and Yawning
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Allah loves sneezing and dislikes yawning. So when one of you sneezes and praises Allah, it is a duty upon every Muslim who hears him to say, ‘May Allah have mercy on you.’ Yawning, however, is from Satan; therefore, when one of you feels compelled to yawn, let him suppress it as much as he can,”
