“O Allah, we place You before them and seek refuge in You from their evil.” Recorded by Abū Dāwūd and al-Nasāʾī.
It is also reported that when the Prophet ﷺ met the enemy he would say, “O Allah, You are my support and You are my helper; with Your aid I advance, by You I assault, and through You I fight.”
Another narration relates that while on an expedition he proclaimed, “O Master of the Day of Recompense! You alone we worship and You alone we ask for help.” Anas said, “I saw men collapsing, struck down by the angels from in front of them and from behind.”
Ibn ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “If you fear a ruler or anyone else, say: ‘There is no god but Allah, the All-Wise, the Most Generous. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and Lord of the Mighty Throne. There is no god but You; Your protection is mighty and Your praise exalted; there is no god besides You.’”
And ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAbbās (may Allah be pleased with them) said: ḥasbunallāhu wa niʿma… (“Allah is sufficient for us, and how excellent…”).
