“Which supplication is most likely to be answered?” He replied, “In the last part of the night and after every prescribed prayer.” Al-Tirmidhi said: this is a hasan (sound) hadith.
Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ once took him by the hand and said, “Mu‘ādh, by Allah, I love you. So never leave off saying after every prayer: ‘O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You well.’” Recorded by Abu Dāwūd and al-Nasāʾī.
On Istikhārah (seeking Allah’s guidance)
Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us the istikhārah for all our affairs just as he would teach us a surah from the Quran. He would say, ‘When one of you is concerned about a matter, let him pray two rakʿahs that are not obligatory, then let him say: O Allah, I seek the choice that comes from Your knowledge, and I seek the empowerment that comes from Your power, and I ask You of Your tremendous bounty. For You have power and I have none, You know and I do not, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter— and here he should name it— is good for me in my religion and my livelihood…’”
