—the accursed.’ He then added, “When a person says that, Satan says, ‘He has been shielded from me for the rest of the day.’” Recorded by Abū Dāwūd.
On the Call to Prayer and Those Who Hear It
Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, related that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “If people knew the reward contained in the call to prayer and in standing in the first row, and found no way to attain them except by drawing lots, they would certainly draw lots.”
He also reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “When the call to prayer is given, Satan turns away, letting out wind so that he does not hear the adhān. When the call is finished he returns; when the iqāmah is pronounced he turns away again, and when the iqāmah is concluded he comes back until he intrudes between a person and his thoughts. He says, ‘Remember such-and-such, remember such-and-such’—things he had never thought of before—until the worshipper no longer knows how many units he has prayed.” Agreed upon by al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
Abū Saʿīd, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say, ‘No jinn, human, or any other creature hears the reach of the muezzin’s voice except that it will testify on his behalf on the Day of Resurrection.’” Recorded by al-Bukhārī.
