then be informed of a war from Allah and His Messenger. If you repent, you may recover your principal; you will neither wrong others nor be wronged.” (2:278–279)
Allah the Exalted also says: “O you who believe, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied; and be mindful of Allah so that you may prosper. And guard yourselves against the Fire that has been prepared for the disbelievers. And obey Allah and the Messenger so that you may receive mercy.” (3:130–132)
And He says: “Those who consume usury will not stand except as one stands whom Satan has driven to madness by his touch. That is because they say, ‘Trade is just like usury,’ whereas Allah has permitted trade and forbidden usury. So whoever is given an admonition from his Lord and desists may keep what has already passed, and his affair rests with Allah. But whoever returns to it—such people are the inhabitants of the Fire; they will remain therein. Allah obliterates usury and nurtures charity, and Allah loves no sinful disbeliever.” (2:275–276)
It is authentically established in Sahih Muslim ⦗1⦘, in the hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who consumes usury, the one who pays it, and the one who records it.
