Question 14: What is the ruling on working for gold-shop owners who engage in unlawful transactions, whether usurious dealings, prohibited stratagems, fraud, or any other impermissible practices?

Answer: Working for those who deal in ribā, fraud, or other forbidden matters is itself forbidden. Allah the Exalted says, “Do not cooperate in sin and transgression” (al-Māʾidah 2), and He also says, “It has already been revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and mocked, do not sit with them until they engage in another discourse…”
