as Allah, Exalted is He, says in His Book: “He is not questioned about what He does, whereas they will be questioned” (Q 21:23). Hence, whoever asks, “Why did He do that?” has rejected the ruling of the Book.

When the Prophet ﷺ saw his Companions exchanging such questions, he said, “Is this what you were commanded to do? Is it for this that you were created?”⦗1⦘

You must not question Allah or dispute with Him about His actions, His decree, and His destiny. Observe proper decorum with your Lord; you are but a servant, so do not intrude upon His affairs—glorious and exalted is He. Allah is not to be questioned about what He does, for He does nothing except with perfect wisdom. That wisdom may be manifest to us or hidden from us, yet we believe that Allah does nothing in vain; everything He does is for a wise purpose, whether we perceive it or not.

A human being is responsible for his own deeds, not for the deeds of Allah. Therefore, concern yourself with what you will be called to account for on the Day of Resurrection—your own actions. The servant’s duty is to submit to Allah.

That is, if someone says, “Why did Allah do such-and-such? Why did He decree this or that?”—whoever says

(1) Amr ibn Shuayb, on the authority of his father, from his grandfather, related: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out one day while the people were talking about qadar (predestination). His face grew so red with anger that it looked as though pomegranate seeds had burst upon it. He said: 'What is the matter with you that you set part of the Book of Allah against another? It was by this that those before you were destroyed.'" The narrator then said: "I have never envied myself for missing a gathering with the Messenger of Allah more than I envied myself for not attending that gathering."
