Whoever perceives this takes heed, recoils from the speech of the unbelievers, and knows with certainty that in His attributes Allah is nothing like mankind. The vision of Him is a confirmed reality for the people of Paradise—without encompassing Him in totality and without inquiring into its modality.
There is a manifest difference between the attributes of the Creator and those of the created. Even if they share a common name or a general sense, they diverge completely in their true nature and external reality. There is no resemblance between Allah’s speech and human speech, between His hearing and human hearing, between His sight and human sight, between His knowledge and human knowledge, or between His will and human will. Anyone who fails to distinguish between the two sets of attributes has lapsed into disbelief.
Whoever reflects on the verses that Allah revealed about al-Walid ibn al-Mughira will recognize the falsity of the deviant sects’ assertions concerning the speech of Allah. His attributes—speech and all others—are categorically distinct from those of His creatures, for the Creator’s attributes can never be likened to the attributes of the created.
As for the vision (ruʾyā): it is the believers’ beholding of their Lord in the Hereafter. They will gaze upon Him with their own eyes, as plainly as they behold the full moon on a clear night and the sun in a cloudless sky, just as the Messenger ﷺ affirmed in authentic hadiths.
