And every claim to prophethood after him is sheer error and caprice,
and he is the one sent to all jinn and every human being with truth and guidance, with light and radiant clarity.
This has already been mentioned in the discussion of his being the Seal of the Prophets. Therefore, any claim to prophethood after him is falsehood and disbelief, for no prophet will come after our Prophet ﷺ. When Jesus—peace be upon him—descends at the end of time, he will not come as a prophet or messenger bringing a new law; rather, he will descend as a renewer of the religion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, following him and ruling by the Islamic law.
This, then, is what must be believed concerning the Prophet ﷺ. It is not enough to acknowledge that he is the Messenger of Allah; one must believe that he is the messenger to all people—indeed, to both mankind and the jinn. The Exalted says, “We have sent you only as a bearer of good news and a warner to all humanity” (Sabaʾ 34:28), and He says to him, “Say, O mankind, I am truly the Messenger of Allah to you all” (al-Aʿraf 7:158). His mission is therefore universal, and this is one of his distinctive qualities ﷺ. He is the messenger for everyone, and obedience to him is obligatory upon all creation—Arab and non-Arab, black and white, human and jinn. Everyone who receives the Prophet’s call is bound to obey him and follow him. Thus, anyone who concedes that he is Allah’s messenger only to the Arabs—as a faction of Christians claim, restricting his prophethood to the Arabs and denying it for others—has committed disbelief in Allah and has rejected Allah, the Mighty and Majestic.
