—there is none to repel His decree, none to review His judgment, and none to overpower His command.
No one can withhold what He gives, and if He wills to withhold something, none can grant it: “There is no withholder of what You give, and no giver of what You withhold.”(1)
The Almighty says: “Whatever mercy Allah opens up for people, none can withhold it; and whatever He withholds, none can release after Him. He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise” (Fatir 35:2).
Thus Allah has no rival and no opponent in what He commands and forbids—unlike created beings, whose decrees may be contested and whose orders resisted. Every creature has peers: they resemble one another in knowledge, in names, indeed in every respect—bodies, attributes, actions, and possessions. Allah, exalted is He, resembles no one, and no one shares anything with Him.
When Allah “decrees a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be!’—and it is” (Maryam 19:35); and “none can overturn His judgment, and He is swift in reckoning” (Raʿd 13:41). Once Allah issues a decree, no one can annul or repel it, whereas the decree of a creature may be suspended or even revoked.
