al-Taliqat al-Mukhtasarah ala Matn al-Aqidah al-TahawiyyahSalih Al-Fawzan

Minds cannot conceive Him, and imagination can never reach Him.
He bears no resemblance to created beings.
He is ever-living and never dies.

…righteous deeds, and the recompense for evil deeds; in all of that He acts with perfect wisdom—He did not create any of it in vain.

Allah cannot be encompassed; He is greater than everything: “He knows what lies before them and what lies behind them, yet they cannot encompass Him with their knowledge” (Q 20: 110). Thus He can be known, but He can never be fully encompassed. He is greater than all things; no intellect can picture Him. Therefore no one may speak about Allah except with what He has said about Himself or what His Messenger ﷺ has said about Him.

This is like the earlier statement, “There is nothing like Him.” The word “anam” means created beings, and Allah is exalted above any resemblance to His creation: “There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing” (Q 42: 11); “And none is comparable to Him” (Q 112: 4). He is utterly transcendent above any likeness to His creatures. True, He possesses names and attributes that share wording and general meaning with those applied to created beings, but in their reality and modality there is absolutely no similarity.

His life is perfect; it is touched by neither deficiency nor sleep: “Allah—there is no deity but Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer; neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep” (Q 2: 255); “Rely upon the Ever-Living who never dies” (Q 25: 58). He has thus denied for Himself drowsiness—the light doze—and sleep
