These sound reports—and everything similar transmitted from the leading authorities among the early generations—are to be understood as reflecting their scrupulous avoidance of speaking on Qur’anic exegesis without sure knowledge. Whoever speaks on the matter with knowledge, whether derived from the Arabic language or from the Sacred Law, incurs no blame. That is why statements of tafsīr are in fact related from these same scholars and from others besides them; there is no contradiction here, for they spoke about what they knew and kept silent about what they did not.

The book is now complete by Allah’s grace and His enabling. All praise is for Allah; by His favor righteous deeds come to fruition.
