He said:

“I do not consider the proponent of this view to be someone who denies the Maker. Rather, he acknowledges the Maker, but attributes the world’s existence to luck and coincidence, so as to avoid assigning a reason for it. I therefore did not count this question among matters of theoretical inquiry requiring demonstration, for sound human nature, through its innate certainty and immediate understanding, bears witness to an All-Knowing, All-Powerful, All-Wise Maker:

‘Is there any doubt about Allah?’
Ibrāhīm 10.

‘If you ask them who created them, they will surely say, “Allah.”’
Al-Zukhruf 87.

‘If you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely say, “The Almighty, the All-Knowing created them.”’
Al-Zukhruf 9.

Even if they neglect this innate disposition in times of ease, there is no doubt that they turn to it in times of hardship:

‘They call upon Allah, devoting their religion sincerely to Him.’
Yūnus 22.

‘When harm touches you at sea, those you invoke are lost to you, except Him.’
Al-Isrā’ 67.”

He said:

“For this reason, the obligation imposed was not to recognize the Maker, but rather to recognize His oneness and reject the association of partners with Him:

‘I have been commanded to fight the people until they say: There is no deity
