In the two Sahīh collections, Abū Hurayrah reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“Great is Allah’s anger against people who have done this to the Messenger of Allah”—he was then pointing to his lateral incisor.

He also said:

“Great is Allah’s anger against a man whom the Messenger of Allah kills in Allah’s cause.”

In Sahīh Muslim, Hudhayfah ibn Usayd reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“When forty-two nights have passed over the drop of fluid, Allah sends an angel to it, who gives it form and creates its hearing, sight, skin, flesh, and bones. Then he says, ‘O Lord, male or female?’ Your Lord decrees whatever He wills, and the angel records it. Then he says, ‘O Lord, its lifespan?’ Your Lord decrees whatever He wills, and the angel records it.
