He replied:
“This does not follow, for you say, ‘Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said,’ and ‘Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will say.’ Allah Most High said:
‘And We said, “O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise.”’ (al-Baqara: 35)
And He Most High said:
‘On the Day We will say to Hell, “Are you filled?” and it will say, “Are there any more?”’ (Qāf: 30)
Thus, speaking can appropriately be expressed in the future tense.
“If they venture the gravest claim and say, ‘According to our principle, Allah’s speech is a single, indivisible thing and is not in any language. From eternity past to eternity future, Allah, Glorified is He, speaks with one speech that has neither beginning nor end. Thus, “He said” and “He will say” refer only to the expression, not to what it expresses,’ they should be told:
‘We have explained many times that your position on this matter is unsound, that it contradicts scholars of reason and revelation alike, and that the explicit text of the Book and established transmitted reports declare it unsound. Allah Most High said:
“Our word to a thing, when We intend it, is only that We say to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” (al-Nahl: 40)
Allah, Glorified is He, thus made clear that He says “Be” to a thing when He wills it to exist. It is therefore known that He has not yet said to the Resurrection, “Be.”’”
He also said elsewhere:
“The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, ‘We begin with what Allah began with.’”
Then he recited:
“Indeed, al-Safā and al-Marwa are among the symbols of Allah.”
