both are unsound, as has been explained in its proper place.
The claim that the revealed Law does not explicitly affirm the attributes is among the most obvious errors. For Allah Most High says:
“They encompass nothing of His knowledge.” [al-Baqarah: 255]
He also says:
“He sent it down with His knowledge.” [al-Nisā’: 166]
And:
“If they do not respond to you, then know that it was sent down with Allah’s knowledge.” [Hūd: 14]
And, in two places:
“No female conceives or gives birth except with His knowledge.” [Fātir: 11], [Fussilat: 47]
And:
“Indeed, Allah alone is the Provider, the Possessor of Power, the Mighty.” [al-Dhāriyāt: 58]
And:
“Did they not see that Allah, who created them, is greater than them in strength?” [Fussilat: 15]
And:
“We built the heaven with might.” [al-Dhāriyāt: 47]
The authentic hadith states:
“O Allah, I ask You to choose for me through Your knowledge and to grant me ability through Your power.”
Allah Most High also relates the angels’ words:
“Our Lord, You encompass all things in mercy and knowledge.” [Ghāfir: 7]
